Funds Development: Planned Giving: Charitable Lead Trusts
A charitable lead trust is designed to provide
an income to Colonial Williamsburg for a period of years and then to distribute
the remaining trust assets to you or your heirs, typically children or
grandchildren.
Lead trusts can be appealing if you desire to transfer significant
assets to your heirs at a reduced cost in terms of estate and gift taxes,
and also want to benefit the Foundation. These trusts can also be structured
to provide current income tax benefits rather than estate tax savings.
