Participant's Guide to the Colonial Williamsburg Teacher Institute 2014

Daily Sessions

Participants

Throughout the week, there will be daily sessions set aside for you to meet with a Colonial Williamsburg Master Teacher to debrief the day’s content and strategies and help you brainstorm ways to design curricula for your classroom based on the day’s experiences. The Master Teacher will reinforce teaching strategies presented during the day and offer lessons and strategies they have successfully used with their students in the classroom.

Master Teachers will act as a liaison between you and the Institute staff, participate in all activities and lessons during the week, provide directions on how to get to places within the Historic Area, and offer suggestions for good teaching materials.

Evaluations

As a Teacher Institute participant, you will be required to complete a series of four surveys: 1) a quick pre-survey prior to your arrival in Williamsburg, 2) a post-survey which will be sent to you shortly after you complete your Teacher Institute experience, 3) a follow-up survey during the school year, and 4) a final survey after the conclusion of the school year. Each online survey will be sent to you via email and should only take 10-15 minutes to complete. Thank you in advance for responding to all of the surveys. Your comments and suggestions are absolutely essential to us for maintaining and enhancing the quality of the Colonial Williamsburg Teacher Institute.
