highwaymenYou spur your horse and leap past the highwaymen to escape. You and your manservant ride hard for half an hour, then stop for a rest. But you don't fancy another run-in with those thieves, so you plan a new route that will take you farther west, far from their reach.

The rest of your journey unfolds without excitement, but you arrive in Williamsburg two days after the start of the legislative session. As you discover, though, it is not unusual for burgesses to arrive late. Traveling is very unpredictable in Virginia. You still worry that this is not a good beginning for a new burgess, but you vow that your wits and determination will prove your worth in the end. You will work hard to represent the King George's County constituents.

The burgess's journey is over. Now take another trip in colonial Virginia!
