This section prepares teachers and group leaders for a Colonial Williamsburg “Becoming Americans”Study Visit. Our trained historical interpreters present an interactive program at levels that are developmentally appropriate for your students. 		Character Scenarios Choose the study visit level appropriate for your students and begin preparing them for the visit by using these character scenarios. Your students may assume these roles when they visit Colonial Williamsburg. Each role was represents a segment of society traveling to, or living in, Williamsburg more than 200 years ago. The roles are based in fact, but are not biographies. Character scenarios allow students to more fully explore the questions and options of their 18th-century counterparts on the eve of the American Revolution.

		Lesson Plans Lesson plans familiarize students with the people and issues of 18th-century Williamsburg. The interdisciplinary plans provide a thought-provoking introduction to the lives and interests of the people that students will meet during their Colonial Williamsburg visit.

		Classroom Activities Explore the Colonial Williamsburg Historic Area online through "A Day in the Life" activities, interactive multimedia pieces, videos, and more.

Colonial Williamsburg provides extensive resources for teachers, schools, and students across the nation, sharing our early American history resources and methods. Many of our services are free. Programs and products for teachers are subsidized by endowments and sponsorships. Major financial support comes from the DeWitt Wallace Trust for Colonial Williamsburg, the Bill and Gretchen Kimball Young Patriots Fund, and others.
