
"As a man of science," says Dr. Galt, "I can only advise you
on the facts. It is true that inoculation
is expensive, but there is no doubt that it protects almost all who take it
from the dreaded smallpox.
Only a few unfortunate souls have died from inoculationsurely many times
fewer than would have died if not so protected.
"Of course, you must take proper precautions to avoid infecting the community. I do not recommend you have it done here in the city. Quarantine yourselves for the proper time and all should be well."
