About this entry:
In March 1776, Benjamin Franklin was part of a delegation to Canada by Congress to convince the Canadian colonists to join with the Americans. Franklin was 70 years old and aflicted with large boils, swollen legs and frequent dizziness. After this unsuccessful mission and upon his return to Philadelphia he was appointed to the committee to write the Declaration of Independence.
