Volunteer Opportunities

Archeology

Colonial Williamsburg has over 800 volunteers in myriad capacities. We value the diversity of our volunteer assignments which include:

Volunteer Opportunities for Adults

Colonial Williamsburg has varied opportunities for Adult Volunteer placement. With a volunteer corps of over 800 adults, volunteer positions are non-costumed and most require year-round participation. Though there are a few exceptions, most of our positions are filled by local area residents. Training is provided for incoming volunteers. All positions are non-paid.

Email pbarner@cwf.org or phone (757) 220-7181 for more information.

Volunteer Opportunities for Youth (ages 10-18)

Colonial Williamsburg has opportunities for youth to volunteer as Junior Interpreters. These costumed, year-round positions are limited to children who live in Williamsburg, James City County, and the Bruton District of York County. A Junior Interpreter Expo is held once a year to recruit those interested in applying to become a Junior Interpreter. The Expo is usually held toward the end of January, every other year, depending on the need for new recruits.

For more information, email pbarner@cwf.org or phone (757) 220-7181.

Academic Internships

Student volunteer internship opportunities are for academic credit only. These positions are not paid.
