Popular Executive Pastry Chef Roland Mesnier prepares holiday favorites in the Regency Room

Experience the elegant traditions celebrated over the years at our nation’s premiere residence – the White House – with a chef who spent 25 years in the kitchen there. Chef Roland Mesnier returns to the Williamsburg Inn’s Regency Room for the third year on Dec. 17 and 18 to team up with Executive Chef Hans Schadler and the Williamsburg Inn culinary staff to prepare White House favorites for the season.

Among the holiday selections of five presidents included on the menu are such delights as President Carter’s chicken and truffle ballotine, President Reagan’s herb crusted Angus beef tenderloin and President Clinton’s seared sea bass. Each course includes a sampling of fine wines and is narrated with nostalgic stories from inside the White House walls. As always, Chef Mesnier concludes the meal with an incredible dessert presentation.

Chef Mesnier – one of nine children – was born in a tiny village in France and started as an apprentice in the kitchen at the age of 14. He joined the White House staff during the Carter administration and served as the White House pastry chef for 25 years, claiming never to have made the same dessert twice. Chef Mesnier’s jovial personality, quick wit and passion for his work make him a guest favorite. Enjoy a White House Christmas at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 17 and 18 in the Regency Room at the Williamsburg Inn, 136 East Francis St. in Williamsburg. Price is $115 and includes tax and gratuity.
