Thomas N. Spong returns to CW Hotel Sales
Thomas N. Spong has returned to the Colonial Williamsburg Company-Hospitality Group as director of hotel sales. His responsibilities include overseeing the sales operation that solicits conference business for the hotels owned and operated by the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation.
Spong first joined Colonial Williamsburg in 1986 as supervisor of the former A Good Place To Eat restaurant in Merchants Square. One year later he was promoted to assistant restaurant manager. During his tenure at Colonial Williamsburg, he also held management positions at Christiana Campbell’s Tavern, the Williamsburg Lodge and conference sales department.
Most recently, Spong was director of sales at Pinehurst Resort in Pinehurst, N.C. His responsibilities included soliciting conference business, developing effective incentive and direct mail programs, and sales and yield management strategies.
“We are delighted to welcome Tom back to Colonial Williamsburg,” said Gary W. Brown, vice president of sales and conference operations. “His familiarity with our product, employees and customer base will allow us to move the conference operation forward. Tom made great contributions to both the hotel company and the foundation during his prior tenure. He is a welcome addition to the team.”
“I am delighted to be back home working with such a wonderful organization,” said Spong. “My passion for Colonial Williamsburg and the renewed vision of the Colonial Williamsburg Company-Hospitality Group has brought me back where I belong.”
A graduate of the College of William and Mary, Spong and his wife, Misti, reside in Williamsburg with their three children, Chase, Madison and Riley.
