CW author to speak at Virginia Festival of the Book

Paul Aron, author of “We Hold These Truths…And Other Words That Made America,” will participate in the 15th annual Virginia Festival of the Book March 18 – 22 in Charlottesville. Aron and fellow author Arthur Schulman (“Websterisms”) will discuss how words create meaning and shape understanding in a presentation titled “Republic of Words: Words and Phrases that Shaped America” Wednesday, March 18 at 4 p.m. at the New Dominion Bookshop, 404 E. Main St., Charlottesville. Moderator will be Wilson Brissett.

Aron is senior editor at the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation. Previously, he was a reporter for the Virginia Gazette and executive editor at Simon and Schuster. Schulman is a cognitive psychologist retired from the University of Virginia and a contributor of crossword puzzles to the New York Times for more than 50 years. He collaborated with Harvard historian Jill Lepore on “Websterisms” his first book.

The Virginia Festival of the Book is produced by the Virginia Foundation for the Humanities and is a celebration of books, authors and reading. Most of the 200 events associated with the festival are free and open to the public. The festival is held March 18 – 22 in Charlottesville. For more information, visit www.vabook.org.
