WHRO TV to Broadcast Colonial Williamsburg Programs in February

‘Connect’ Programs Explore American Ideas

WHRO TV 15 will re-broadcast three programs produced by Colonial Williamsburg as part of its American Ideas series. The programs are scheduled to air at 3 p.m. on Sundays - February 3, 10 and 17 - on the local public television station.

The series began in the fall of 2011 with three programs that examined constitutional issues and were originally webcast on Colonial Williamsburg’s citizenship website www.history.org/connect. The discussions are moderated by well-known Hampton Roads public affairs broadcaster Cathy Lewis. The series produced another five webcasts, all archived on the Connect website – with more programs planned for this year.

In ‘Assemble and Petition,’ Patrick Henry and University of Richmond law professor Henry Chambers discuss the role of protest in America. For the program 'Freedom of Religion,’ Henry debates Thomas Jefferson, and in ‘Framing the Constitution,’ George Washington and James Madison discuss creation of the Constitution and the intent of the founders.

The American Ideas programs are part of a series of Colonial Williamsburg live webcasts debating our nation’s most basic values and how they shape our republic and are one of many programs that support Colonial Williamsburg’s initiatives as a center for history and citizenship.
