Beer and Wine Events Add Sizzle to Summer

Colonial Williamsburg’s popular Wine, Wit and Wisdom continues this summer with tastings of wines paired with products from local farmers and purveyors. Colonial Williamsburg Executive Chef Rhys Lewis and his colleagues explore the wines of a particular region at each session, mixing learning with loving the taste of varietals from all over the world.

  • June 8, “From the Vineyard to the Sea” explores white wines from three of the world’s great coastal wine regions.
  • July 13, “A Sparkling Experience” celebrates American Independence with the sparkle of bubbles on the palate.
  • September 14, “Waiting to Catch a Cab?” introduces Cabernet Sauvignons from different parts of the globe, and the distinct differences in taste the various regions produce.

    Beer lovers aren’t left out of the fun, as Williamsburg Lodge Executive Chef Anthony Frank and his colleague Ken Clasen present beers from around the world with pairings that enhance their flavors.

  • May 25, to start the summer off right, “Good for What Ales You” provides a look at how beer, food and merriment contribute to a healthy lifestyle.
  • June 22, “Wheat, Weisse and Weizen” explores exceptional beers from American breweries that produce classic Bavarian beers.
  • July 27, “Summer Sunshine and American Brews” studies the American microbrew summer ales revolution.
  • September 28, “Ice Cream Floats” introduces beer lovers to the unexpected pleasure of suspending ice cream in stout beers.
