Williamsburg® Products Signs Licensing Agreement with The Wilton Company

The WILLIAMSBURG Products Program has signed a licensing agreement with the Wilton Company to produce decorative tabletop accessories in alternative metals. Product for the WILLIAMSBURG collection will be produced and marketed by Wilton within the company’s Designer Series®, which also features the exclusive creations of Tracy Porter, Wyland and Robert Lee Morris, for sale in specialty retail stores. The WILLIAMSBURG collection will be launched later this month at the Wilton showroom at the New York Tabletop Market.

“Alternative metals are growing as a category and Wilton is the undeniable industry leader in this area,” said Jim Easton, vice president for products at Colonial Williamsburg. “Consumers are looking for classic design that’s both functional and beautiful -- not only for entertaining, but for everyday use as well. The products that we develop with Wilton definitely will satisfy at these levels. Their quality execution of designs inspired by the architecture and collections of Colonial Williamsburg offer something unique in the marketplace. This is going to be a great partnership.”

Wilton’s unique Armetale® metal products are sand-cast and handcrafted individually from a non-toxic aluminum alloy. Each is hand finished so that no two pieces are exactly alike. Available in two finishes – a high polish similar to silver and a matte finish similar to pewter – they are durable enough to resist chipping or denting under normal usage. Perfect for today’s entertaining needs, the introductory WILLIAMSBURG line will include distinctive platters, trays, bowls and a variety of accessory pieces.

“The synergy between Wilton and Colonial Williamsburg holds much promise,” said Ralph Wilton, Wilton senior marketing manager and fifth generation family member to head the company. “Colonial Williamsburg is a fabulous property and our long-term partnership goal is to create top quality products that will help generate new distribution channels and broader brand strategies.”

Wilton is a family owned and family run business that was founded in 1892 by Ralph P. Wilton Sr. in Lancaster County, Pa. Headquartered in Mount Joy, Pa., Wilton maintains a showroom and office at 41 Madison Avenue in New York City. The company’s products are available in department stores and specialty stores throughout the U.S. and overseas.

The WILLIAMSBURG Products Program, established in 1936, provides authentic reproductions of antique furnishings and accessories as well as an interpretive lifestyle collection, both of which reflect the rich decorative arts traditions of the 18th century. Revenue from the sale of WILLIAMSBURG products supports the educational programs of the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation, a not-for-profit, tax-exempt educational organization that oversees and operates the restored 18th-century town of Williamsburg.
