WILLIAMSBURG® and Mottahedeh introduce “Virginia Blue” dinnerware pattern

WILLIAMSBURG and Mottahedeh announced today the launch of an elegant new dinnerware pattern, Virginia Blue. The stunning collection is perfect for any occasion, from relaxed dinner parties to formal celebrations. Virginia Blue draws upon the design of a Chinese export porcelain classic from the 18th century by refreshing it with pearlized ecru borders and boldly scaled accent plates that are sure to draw attention to any table.

WILLIAMSBURG and Mottahedeh’s Virginia Blue was inspired by antique plates in the Colonial Williamsburg collections, which match a set historically used on a Tidewater Virginia plantation. A young planter ordered them for his bride in 1762, on the eve of the American Revolution. Serving the fashionable of both the 18th century and today, the Virginia Blue pieces are ideal for a contemporary home.

“We are delighted to launch a fresh porcelain pattern that captures the history and romance of gracious living in Virginia’s golden age and is updated for today’s bride and hostess,” stated Liza Gusler, product manager for WILLIAMSBURG.

The fresh new palette of light blue, pearl and ecru colors that WILLIAMSBURG and Mottahedeh use for this collection maintains a classic, timeless appeal. The five-piece place setting offers alternate bread-and-butter plates—with a bird motif or a border pattern matching the dinner plate—enhancing table design options. The place settings will be available at retail in July 2006, and serving pieces will be available in January 2007. Designed for today’s busy lifestyle, all the pieces in the collection are microwave safe, making it even easier to entertain with a timeless WILLIAMSBURG ambiance.
