Former White House pastry chef signs new book, "Dessert University," at Williamsburg Booksellers®

Chef Roland Mesnier, world-renowned former pastry chef for the White House, will sign copies of his new book, “Dessert University,” on Saturday, November 11 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at Williamsburg Booksellers®.

Mesnier has decades of experience in the White House kitchen and has worked for Presidents Jimmy Carter, Ronald Reagan, George H.W. Bush, Bill Clinton and George W. Bush. He has created desserts for hundreds of state dinners and other White House occasions.

He also created the professional pastry program at L’Academie de Cuisine in Bethesda, Md. Mesnier is the honorary president of the World Cup of Pastry.

“Dessert University” features more than 300 recipes with color illustrations and represents a complete course in dessert making with step-by-step techniques. Readers can learn about making nearly any and every dessert, from breakfast pastries and pies to cookies, cakes and frozen confections.

Mesnier will be at Colonial Williamsburg’s Williamsburg Inn for the holiday season for the program, “A White House Christmas.” Mesnier joins Colonial Williamsburg chefs to create holiday favorites fit for presidents and reminiscent of traditions celebrated at the White House 7:30 p.m. on December 12-13.
