Former White House pastry chef schedules second "Dessert University" book signing at Williamsburg Booksellers®

Chef Roland Mesnier, world-renowned former pastry chef for the White House, will sign copies of his new book “Dessert University” at Williamsburg Booksellers®, 101B Visitor Center Dr., 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Monday, December 11.

Mesnier gained decades of experience in the White House kitchen under Presidents Jimmy Carter, Ronald Reagan, George H.W. Bush, Bill Clinton and George W. Bush. He has created desserts for hundreds of state dinners and other White House occasions. He also created the professional pastry program at L’Academie de Cuisine in Bethesda, Md. Mesnier is the honorary president of the World Cup of Pastry.

“Dessert University” features more than 300 recipes with color illustrations. Meant to be a complete course in dessert making, Mesnier uses a step-by-step technique and points out common mistakes. Readers can learn about making nearly any and every dessert, from breakfast pastries and pies to cookies, cakes and frozen confections.

Chef Mesnier also will be at the Williamsburg Inn, 136 E. Francis St., for the holiday season for two new festive programs. Join Mesnier for Afternoon Tea in the East Lounge of the Williamsburg Inn at 3 p.m. on December 12-13. The cost is $35 per person.

Mesnier collaborates with Colonial Williamsburg chefs to create holiday favorites fit for presidents and reminiscent of traditions celebrated at the White House. The program, “A White House Christmas,” will be offered at 7:30 p.m. on December 12-13. The cost is $90 per person.
