Gary Brown returns to head sales, conference operations at CW hotel properties
Gary W. Brown has returned to the Colonial Williamsburg Company–Hospitality Group (CWC-HG) as vice president, sales and conference operations.
Brown’s responsibilities include sales and conference operations for all of the Colonial Williamsburg Company’s hotels and conference business. He also will focus on the development and planning for the Williamsburg Lodge and Conference Center renovations scheduled to begin in 2003.
For six years from 1990-1996, Brown led Colonial Williamsburg’s effort in the group market as director of hotel sales. His tenure marked record conference business for the organization.
Most recently, Brown was vice president of convention sales and services for the Baltimore Area Convention and Visitors Association. There, he supervised sales, conference services, housing and registration activities, leading a team of 22 that drove more than 600,000 room nights and more than $1 billion dollars in economic impact for the city annually.
Brown’s past work experience includes positions with Westin Hotels, Ritz-Carlton, Regent, Hyatt and Hilton.
Brown has been honored nationally as one of a select number of Associate Member Fellows of the American Society of Association Executives. He also is an active member of the Convention Industry Council, Professional Convention Management Association, Greater Washington Society of Association Executives, and Hospitality Sales and Marketing Association International.

Brown is a graduate of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, with a degree in hotel administration. He and his wife, Suzie, have two sons, Tyler, age 15, and Travis, 11.
