New packages combine championship golf, new spa for "female friendly" experience at Golden Horseshoe Golf Club

Golden Horseshoe Golf Club recently enhanced its reputation as one of the most female-friendly golf facilities in the U.S. with the addition of the new Spa of Colonial Williamsburg. This pairing combines golf on the award-winning Golden Horseshoe Golf Club courses and superlative spa treatments, coupled with top-tier accommodations at the newly renovated Williamsburg Lodge.

Two packages are currently available for guests seeking to combine these two pastimes:

  • The “Spa Escape Package” is aptly named. Offered with a two-night minimum stay on Friday and Saturday nights, and a one-night package from Sunday through Thursday, the Spa Escape includes a standard room at the Lodge, a choice of one of the three classic massages offered at the Spa (60 minutes each), or one of the many available 60-minute facials (Beautiful Skin Refinement Facial Not included). This $222 (per-person/per-night/double-occupancy) package includes gratuities but not taxes.
  • The “Girlfriend’s Getaway Package” features a $20 voucher for the purchase of spa makeup products, a 15 percent discount coupon for selected Colonial Williamsburg shops nearby, and a comfortable double room at the Lodge, all for only $223 (per-person/per-night/double occupancy). Taxes and gratuities are not included.

Either of these packages may be combined with a $99 “add-on” round of golf or a 60-minute massage at the Spa.

Opened earlier this year, The Spa of Colonial Williamsburg is a full-service facility with 12 treatment rooms, whirlpool, steam room, private lounges, a complete fitness facility, a conservatory salon, and healthy spa dining for patrons. Its 20,000 square feet of southern charm perfectly complements the historical heritage of Colonial Williamsburg Historic Area nearby.

The Spa is only steps away from the renowned Golden Horseshoe Golf Club comprised of two championship-tested courses, along with a highly regarded nine-hole executive course. The Gold Course, which Golf Digest ranked one of six “Best of the Best” by legendary golf course architect Robert Trent Jones Sr., is the centerpiece of the 45-hole setting. Opened in 1963, the Gold Course was refurbished in 1998 by Jones’ son, Rees Jones, who also built the adjacent Green Course that opened for public play in 1991. The nine-hole Spotswood Course, originally built in the mid 1940s, was reconfigured by Robert Trent Jones Sr. in 1964.

Golden Horseshoe Golf Club offers a variety of social and instructional programs designed specifically for women golfers, including women-only golf clinics and golf shop featuring the finest in women’s golf fashion and equipment, as well as Callaway women’s clubs available for rental.

Both the Spa of Colonial Williamsburg and the Golden Horseshoe Golf Club are components of the Resort Collection of Colonial Williamsburg, which provides guests a choice of distinctive hotel properties and amenities, offering a variety of accommodations from the elegant Regency-style Williamsburg Inn, to authentic colonial houses located in the heart of the Historic Area. The Resort Collection of Colonial Williamsburg is owned by The Colonial Williamsburg Foundation, the private, not-for-profit educational institution that preserves and operates the restored 18th-century Revolutionary capital of Virginia. Purchase of Colonial Williamsburg resort services and products supports the Foundation’s preservation, research, and educational programs.
