Colonial Williamsburg Teacher Institute Scholarships

Teacher Institute at the Palace

The application for 2019 Colonial Williamsburg Teacher Institute scholarships and matching grants will open in the fall. These scholarships are the result of the generosity of many Colonial Williamsburg Foundation friends, their deep commitment and respect for teachers, and their knowledge of the teacher’s role in educating citizens and leaders of tomorrow.

Note: Applying for a scholarship is not the same process as registering for a session of the Teacher Institute. Those able to pay their own tuition may register themselves online now. If you apply for a scholarship, you do not need to also register. Registration questions may be directed to Valerie Perkins, registrar, at

IMPORTANT NOTE: Applications for Oklahoma or Los Angeles, California scholarships must be submitted directly to the coordinating institutions for those areas. As soon as that information is available it will be posted here.

Institute in American History and Content Area Literacy Scholarships available for American history teachers in New York City and Long Island who have experience leading reading and writing workshops. For application or questions please email

Matching Grants

Matching grant scholarships are available for American history teachers who work at the elementary or middle school level in any public school in the United States. Colonial Williamsburg will provide the tuition and transportation for one teacher, if the school/district will fund another teacher from the same school or district.
