Electronic Field Trips Powered by HERO
for Elementary and Middle Schools

HEROColonial Williamsburg's Electronic Field Trip series of seven varied historical programs are targeted to the social studies curricula of students in grades 4-8. These exciting, inspiring stories about America's history, from the colonial era to the present day, are available online and through many public television stations during the school year. The stories are told through engaging live video segments and interaction with historians via Twitter and instant polling.

HERO is our new online media library of history education resources. Subscribed schools can access videos, lessons, web-based activities, and special interactive opportunities during the live broadcasts through this on-demand media library. Teachers in schools that subscribe to HERO can access teacher guides containing historical overviews, glossaries, time lines, and classroom lesson plans that are designed by teachers, for teachers. Students receive access to interactive online activities and a message board where they can discuss their opinions or post questions year-round. They also have an amazing opportunity to participate in the live field trip event, connecting with historical characters and historians via phone, email, Twitter, instant polling and online voting.
