Flames of Freedom

On April 19, 1775, General Thomas Gage's British soldiers marched through the Massachusetts countryside toward the towns of Lexington and Concord.

It was one of a series of events taking place over several years that challenged British rule in the American colonies.

The exploration you are about to begin will take you back in time to some of the key events that led to the American Revolution. On the next page you will find a series of symbols. We suggest that you begin by clicking on the hand where you will meet people of the past and listen to their concerns. You might also begin by clicking on the clock to explore a timeline of events.

Be sure to explore all the components. Read the instructions and use all of the features to explore documents, make notes and send us messages. Most of all, be sure to share what you learn with others in your classroom.
