A Day in the Life

Streaming Video

Colonial Williamsburg will stream both broadcasts of A Day in th Life live over the internet in two formats, Real Video and Windows Media. In addition, we will archive the program for one month.

Teachers who plan to use the live stream should use the tests below to determine if their classroom computers are configured properly. We suggest that teachers who want to use more than one computer run the test on multiple machines simultaneously. Students in classrooms accessing multiple streams may want to use headphones.

Colonial Williamsburg streaming video runs best on IE Explorer 4.0 (or more recent)or Netscape 4.0 (or more recent) and at 800 X 600 resolution.

For the optimal viewing experience, please install the Free Real Player 7.

For those users who wish to try the Windows Media format , please note: Windows Media Player is available for Windows NT, 98, 95 and 3.1. It is also availble for the Macintosh platform, with enough ram and processor capacity.

Unimpeded connectivity between the server and client computer is most critical. Any "network congestion" will seriously affect the quality of the live stream.
