The
Dress the Part Web
activity introduces students to eighteenth-century
clothing and its relationship to social status. Students
are invited to appropriately clothe one male and
one female individual from each level of society. Clicking on the social
status link below each pair of individuals reveals more information
about their role in colonial society. Clicking on specific items of
clothing also learn yields more information about it and how it was
worn. If needed, a Help button offers students hints on how to dress
each colonial person.
Using Dress the Part enables students to more accurately visualize the Betwixt Folly and Fate role playing game characters and to better understand their daily lives and experiences as members of eighteenth-century Virginia society.
