DISCOVERING THE PAST THROUGH ARCHAEOLOGY
A Classroom Simulation
Discovering the Past Through Archaeology puts your students in the role of archaeologists. Working in cooperative groups, students analyze, identify, and classify artifacts to determine how each was used. The activities lead students to draw conclusions about the people who lived and worked on the archaeological site. Active learning at its best! Each Classroom Simulation kit includes: a modern mystery story that familiarizes students with archaeological methods, the excavation site reproduced on heavy card stock that can be arranged on student desks, reproduction artifacts (contents vary), directions for basic site investigation, and primary documents and sources. Teachers also receive: instructions for the archaeological activities, background information about archaeology, instructions for placing artifacts within the site, suggestions for adding additional artifacts, and extension activities. Grades 4-8. $99.00. To order, call 1-800-761-8331 or email eftsupport@cwf.org.
