Stuart Farm: November 1775

Woman working on a farmYou are journeying into the countryside to bring back a horse purchased by your master. A woman working in the garden of a farm along the road. You pause to greet her.

"Good day, Ma'am," you call out.

She pauses from her work. "A good day for you, perhaps, but not for me," she says. "Since my William joined that army of Patriots, I've had nothing but misery and heartache. Why, with fields to tend, children to feed and a house to keep, I fear I shall drop dead from exhaustion soon."

You ask:

I've learned a secret!
