Teacher Institute: 25th Anniversary

T

he Colonial Williamsburg Teacher Institute in American History will celebrate its 25th anniversary throughout 2014. Since 1990, 7,776 teachers have attended the program from all 50 states, Washington, D.C., the Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico, Tunisia, Brazil, and Norway.

Participants have taught and inspired almost 3.5 million students, providing our youth with the knowledge of American history to become active, informed citizens and leaders.

The Institute was founded in 1990 with 44 elementary school teachers from California with the support of Robert and Marion Wilson and is now supported by more than 100 donors.

Currently, the Teacher Institute includes distinct professional development opportunities in American history and civics education for elementary, middle and high school teachers.
